It might be microchipped - take it to local vet to check for a microchip or contact Cats Protection League for help to catch it and take to vet. The weather is getting colder and a week is a long time. My cat went missing and hung around someone's garden about 15 miles away from where I live - they caught it and took it to the vet to look for a microchip and that was how I got my cat back.

Yes please take cat to vet for microchip check and general check up. We had a small cat in our garden for a week, and we managed to catch it and take to vet, who told us it was a (male, un-neutered) 9 month old kitten. We were able to have him checked for health, innoculated, and (free under Cat'sProtection) neutered. Nobody claimed him, and after a few weeks of being very shy, and living under furniture at ours, moved in with a cat-loving neighbour (as we already have 2 cats) and is very happy.

Thanks for the guidance Gila and ClareWeiner. I will call the vets tomorrow and try to catch it. Would have loved to give it a nice home but unfortunately my son is allergic to pets so, it won't be possible.
