We involved Animal Search UK who came and searched the neighbourhood, putting up posters and posting flyers. They left in the afternoon and we continued searching, calling Archer's name and posting flyers through letterboxes further afield. As we walked up the wrong side of the building site that is at the end of our road, my friend said she heard a meow. We called some more and kept listening and the meows were coming faster and louder as we saw Archer bounding over to us from the middle of the building site. He was all cuddles and purrs as we had a very happy reunion. Getting him home was the next challenge. He was eager to come with us and happily trotted along the alley with us to come home. (He did try to show us that it was quicker to go directly across the building site but acquiesced to come the long way round when he realised we humans can't just slide under the fencing like he can.) It was a struggle to get him past the cars so I carried him in my arms most of the way, my little cherub. His sister looked as if she'd seen a ghost at first then proceeded to give him a good telling off. He was knackered so accepted his telling off & caught up on his sleep. Over the next couple of days we noticed his tail was hurt and he had to have it sewn up at the vets, which involved an overnight stay. They have both been so good throughout everything, I'm really proud of my little family. Archer had his cone off yesterday so this morning for the first time I let them go outside, just before breakfast. They had a good sniff for five minutes then came in for their food. Hopefully things can settle down now and we can all enjoy our new home!
