I have only just found this site and have seen your post! I have lost 2 grey cats, one late 2012 called Jabby she is mostly grey with tabby markings and the other called Peaches late 2013 who has ginger blush cheeks and a few white patches. Both are microchipped. Do you know what has happened to this cat you found?
