Please take this cat to a veterinary practice as soon as you can - they will scan her for free and with no need for any appointment. I recommend Cufa's Lea Veterinary Centre, which is near you at 13-15 Between Towns Road, Cowley, Oxford OX4 3LX - phone: 01865 774173.

Does she have a white patch underneath between her rear legs?

Dear Daja018, I will check when I see her next and I'll reply again on here once I do. She (we think it is a she, but don't know for certain) is all black but with a slight orange-red tinge to her coat in sunlight. We will take her to the vets at the weekend to get scanned for a microchip.

Dear Daja018, The cat wasn't around yesterday evening but was back again, crying at our back door this morning. I managed to pick it up and check but couldn't see a white patch underneath, between her back legs. There are a few white hairs on her rear right side, but nothing underneath, I'm afraid. I hope you find your Lola soon. I tried to catch this one this morning to take to the vets, but no joy. Will hopefully have her at the vets and scanned for a microchip this weekend.

Dear MK and Daja018, we have taken the cat to the vets this morning and they could not detect a microchip. We have found her a safe place to stay until we find her owners. Hope you both find your missing cats soon.

Dear all, We took this cat back to the vets for a full check up yesterday. She is a 12-13 year old female, definitely not microchipped. She is generally well, and seems to be putting on weight already at her foster home. (The only issue she has are teeth in poor condition that will necessitate surgery for extractions). She is with a lovely couple who will take her in permanently and care for her, if the owner is not found. If you know of anyone looking for an older, small black female cat, please do alert them to this post. Many thanks,Elspeth

Cat was not microchipped. Adopted by a friend, who undertook all vet care to restore the cat to full health.
