Little update: I think I was mistaken about the scars; this appears to be hairloss due to malnutrition. She is black down the middle of her body, but brown on her sides. Her feet are peppered with white hairs. Hopefully this description will be distinctive to someone.

Thanks @Lillylab. Checked it and it says they lost a Male - I definitely have a female (anus and 'bits' close together). I am taking her to the vets to be scanned for a microchip on monday. I hope to reunite her with her owner soon!

Checked, chipped, owner tracked down and returned. Owner not at all grateful, claims cat 'never wanders off' and was annoyed at the 'inconvenience' of picking her up from the vet! Moreover they didn't seem to know when she went missing and had made no effort to look for her. Was anticipating feeling happy that the cat was reunited but now I don't know what to feel. I'm just going to pray for her to be okay.
