Sad news. Has the cat been taken to a vet so it can be scanned for a microchip? That would help find the owners, who would want to know, sad as it is.

I contacted the local vet who told me they would not do this, it was better to get the body removed by the council. I thought that was a tad unfair as someone may never know it was their cat. Anyhow, I went back to retrieve the bosy, but it had been removed. Not sure by whom. So sadly unless it was the owner, this little cat may well have been disposed of without anyone claiming him. I would have liked to get him buried at the very least once he had been scanned for a chip.

Hi Nikki - can I ask which local vet that was that said they wouldn't scan it?Nick

It was kind and thoughtful of you to try to get him scanned and buried. The Council have assured me that they do scan any cats or dogs that they remove. It is sad that the owners may never know, though. Our little black cat disappeared from Yarnells Hill last December and we have never heard any news, although he was microchipped. I did wonder if this might have been him, as it's possible he has been living somewhere else in the meantime.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that. That is exactly the reason why I would have liked the cat scanned. Perhaps someone has done this as the body was removed the next day when I went back to retrieve it. I am glad to hear the council do scan animals that they find. Of course, if I hear of anything I will let you know. All the best.
