We took the cat in overnight with a view to seeing if it was chipped this morning. However, we mentioned it to a dog walker who passes our house most days recognised it as belonging to his next door neighbour so it has been safely returned to her.

Yes it is good it had a happy ending and the owner was found so quickly. Thanks for your help. I have now told the owner about this site in case the cat gets lost again as another time it might not come our way.
