This cat has been living with us for the past couple of months. She moved in of her own accord and we have been taking care of her. When we first met her she was very skinny, and when she heard us up and about at night (2am-4am) she would ask to be let into our house. This led us to believe that she is a stray and didn't have a home to go back to, or didn't know how to get home. She has been microchipped but the chip was never registered to an owner - the vet was able to trace the chip back to a vet's office in Cheshire. She was not originally wearing a collar but we have given her a polka dot one with a legible note on it with a means for the owner to get in touch with us. She has been wearing it for a month now but no-one has contacted me about her.The vet told us that under the circumstances it would be okay to adopt her, however we're not entirely convinced that there isn't an owner out there who would love to have her back. Eventually we will register the chip with our details to keep her safe, but we will always be happy to hear from the original owner and reunite her with her family. She is safe, happy and healthy, and we have called her Ellie, which she now answers to.

Hi Pippala, the worrying thing about your report is that Ellie is microchipped but unregistered. I must check that mine are as this is the 2nd time i have read that a cat is not registered but i think we all assume they are as soon as they are chipped! Well done for helping her anyway x

We never heard from any original owners and none of our neighbours knew anything about who could be the owner either. We have moved to Cardiff now, and seeing as it has been almost a year we have taken her with us. I am saddened that no-one cared about her enough to try and find her, we took every effort to find the original owner! She is a beautiful cat and the best thing to ever walk into our life.
