LOST
Malina
Name: Malina
Breed & Species: Domestic short-haired cat
Colour: Black
SimpleColour:
Went missing: over a year ago
(03 April 2023 at around 22:00hrs)
Location: Howard Street, Oksford OX4 3BQ, Wielka Brytania
Health: Healthy
Age: 4 years old
Sex: Spayed Female
Collar: No
Microchipped: Yes
Circumstances: She usually sleeps outdoors in a garden cat house but was not around on Tuesday morning and may not have come to the house to visit later on Monday night like she normally does. On Tuesday during the day her bedding was drying in the sun while I was out and she would have looked for another place to nap. She never showed up in the evening. During warmer times she has gone off on trips of 2-3 days and another of my cats has done 5 days but it's 5 days already.
Other info: Small but fit and long-legged (weight 4.5 kg), shiny coat, good climber, not too sociable as feral born.

Shared widely The following may help... Put her used litter tray/favourite bed/toy (&/or contents of your vaccum) outside, they can smell it for miles & help them find their way home - your dirty laundry on the line - the smellier the socks the better!! Go out looking late at night & early morning - your voices (& theirs) will travel further. Knock on neighbours doors & ask them to let you look in garages/sheds as they'll be scared & may hide from the stranger but cry out to you. Also, where are their safe places - where they go in your house? Use those to help you think like that, do they hide in dark & low or up high? Get low under bushes, decking etc, get ladders & explore places that can be climbed Make a flyer & post it thru letter boxes Contact all the local Vets & rescues with the flyer (update them when found). https://www.bluecross.org.uk/advice/cat/what-to-do-if-your-cat-is-lost

There has been a cat very occasionally howling in the area, very hard to detect where it's coming from. It's somewhere around Hertford, Howard, Charles Street I think. Obviously trapped. PUT OUT SOME LEAFLETS so people are aware and can check.their garages/sheds etc

Thank you for letting me know. Can you please say when you first and last heard this, what time of day it was, and where you were when you heard the calls? I am asking because if it is her then I have no time to lose.

Jimson
Hi. I'm afraid I have no specific details. It began about a week ago. Over the week I only heard it about 4 times, mainly in afternoons. I last heard it yesterday morning. I was in my garden Hertford Street. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but will keep my ears open.

The acoustics are deceptive around here, so best to include Percy Street, Golden Road, Catherine street etc also. Thereabouts. My garden is south facing
Jimson
Jimson
Fyi the mobile number on your site is coming up as unobtainable
Jimson
Jimson
I won't be wanting a reward. I hope you find her
Jimson
Jimson
I would begin with this side of Percy Street, and 58 Hertford Street, or 56, which I think owns a garage at the bottom of their garden
Jimson
Jimson
Then Magdalen Road Stores window and front door and street lamp posts, same with the corner co-op. All the locals go to these places I suspect. All the local shop fronts if they'll have it. Get someone to help with the distribution.

I think petsreunited help with this, for a price I imagine if they can do it reliably in good time

A good template for your flyer could be something along the lines of:Missing Cat. Our cat [name and pronunciation so she can be called] hasn't been seen for [[number[] days. She's friendly but likes hiding, so please urgently check your gardens/sheds/garages etc. Please contact [your forename and CORRECT mobile number and full address in Howard Street]. This worked recently for a missing cat locally. Just trying to help.

Oh and her photo of course

Wiktor
Thank you for all the advice, this is very helpful.

Good luck. It hardly needs saying, but flyers through ALL the local letter boxes. I suggest you get someone reliable to do this, and reward them in kind. Good luck with all this. It's water and TLC she'll be needing at this stsge
Jimson
Jimson
If and when she gets home feed her water, then cold freshly boiled white rice, no rice fluids in this, and cold freshly cooked cod steaks
Jimson
Jimson
Oh a take her to the vet pronto of course, but water and feed her first
Jimson
Jimson
Unless she's in a faint

Priority number one is to get those flyers printed and reliably distributed. You could try knocking on doors, but the response therein is usually unreliable. No harm in trying however with this side of Percy Street and 56/58 Hertford Street
Jimson
Jimson
Do ensure they get it via a flyer

She is back! Looking as healthy as before thankfully. Thank you for your kindness and involvement. I hope though that if what you heard is a trapped cat then the neighbour will be alert enough to release it - if you need any help with circulating anything please let me know.

Oh this is wonderful news! Will do. She would love some rice and steaks, as discussed. Big hug to her. Sounds like she's been exploring. So glad
