Fritzy was sighted several times by people living on the canal over summer 2012 but they were unable to retrieve him on these occasions. These sightings were a very positive sign that Fritzy was alive and surviving on his own. However, in anticipation of colder weather coming it became vital to increase attempts to find and entice Fritzy back into human company! This was the right approach because that is exactly what happened in November, thankfully! Fritzy is now living happily in a non-canal environment!

Fritz had joined me to live on my new barge boat and seemed happy with life on water, having spent early life on land and with a big garden. However, when I changed moorings in Oxfordshire a few months later, it was at that time he disappeared having left the boat to explore. I looked high and low for Fritz for weeks and let the boat community know he was lost/missing. Eventually a lady heard about it in the village and reported back that a cat of Fritz's description was hanging around her farm. She was feeding him, thankfully. Fritz was returned to me but realising he did not like water I asked me best friend to adopt him so he could live on land with a nice garden! I was sad at the time, but very happy to see Fritz more settled.
