LOST
Merlin
Name: Merlin
Breed & Species: Domestic short-haired cat
Colour: Black
SimpleColour:
Went missing: 2 years ago
(27 July 2021 at around 16:00hrs)
Location: Sandfield Road, Headington, Oxford OX3 7RL, UK
Health: Healthy
Age: 12 years old
Sex: Neutered Male
Collar:
Microchipped: Yes
Markings: Has nicks in both ears
Circumstances: Merlin was returned to us early in July after being missing for 8 years! We spent 3 weeks carefully reintroducing him to our home and to his sister. This was going well so we started some short visits to the garden. On the last of these he suddenly raced off into other neighbouring gardens for no obvious reason, and couldn't be seen. He almost certainly doesn't remember the neighbourhood. He may have tried to find his last known home which we believe was in Marston, about 1km away. He was wearing a red collar with name and phone number on tag. Merlin loves people and is very affectionate, but over-adventurous!
Other info: Burmilla. Outer coat is black and dark brown; white underneath. Has a small white patch on throat.

Hello! This cat is been in your house for a year and half now. He doesn’t stay long, but he likes to go there to eat and sleep and all the neighbours like him and give him cuddles and food. Please check around Marston area (OX3 0JQ). I will keep an eye :)

Hi Barbara Antunes, Thanks very much for that information and for taking care of him! Please can you tell me when was the last time he was in your house?

In response to one of our posters, a very kind young couple living in Marston phoned us to say he had been outside their house for a day or two. So they took him into their house for a few minutes until we collected him. It seems that he found his way back to an area where he had previously been living. As a warning, we also received a scam call from someone saying that they were from the RSPCA, that our cat had been found and was at an Oxford vets, and tried to get my bank card details to pay a small 'admin/release' fee.
