We found the cat in our Gazebo early Saturday morning on the 1st of February huddled on one of the seats. When he hadn't moved much throughout the day, by 3pm it was more than likely that he was a lost cat. We brought him indoors at 7pm because it was very cold and there were foxes barking about - aside from him being scared by them, he's a small cat and though they don't usually attack cats, in desperation they have been known to attack young and small cats on rare occasions and we weren't taking the chances. We put a paper collar on him with my mobile number. Sunday I postered the area, I contacted 4 local vets, 6 animal charities, 4 lost and found sites, 6 animal lost and found groups, 4 local area groups. I scoured lost and found for hours searching for any cat resembling the cat we have, without any completely matching him at all. I took him to Vets 4 Pets Dagenham to find he wasn't chipped - and it was obvious he wasn't neutered, there was no mistaking he was an unneutered male from his enormous protruding genitalia. He smelled clean, didn't have fleas and is very friendly which makes me think he was definitely owned once by someone who cared for him. By today I'm beginning to doubt someone is looking for him (at least locally) as I would be through the roof if one of my cats were missing. We have been allowing him outside with his paper collar, but he doesn't leave our garden - which suggests to me he is unsure of the area and possibly dumped - not the first time a cat has been left in the local park to fend for itself and made itself at home at our house! With no posts or contact from anyone matching his description after over a week, he's settled in with my cats and taken a shine to my daughter - he follows her like a little shadow and snuggles her as soon as she gets home from college. He's booked in at the vets for neutering and microchipping, vaccinations to be discussed with the vet.
