Please take this cat to a vet, they can see if its chipped and help if its injured. Try this too - FOUND A CAT? 1. The FIRST thing you should always do is knock on a few doors in your area. Most "found" cats don't live far from their "finder". Don't forget to check with neighbours behind your house. Cats jump fences! 2. Don't forget that elderly cats are often skinny (even if medicated) and have a coat in poor condition. 3. Nowadays, many cats don't wear collars, so don't assume that a cat without a collar is homeless. 4. Make up some posters and put them up in your area, including in local shops/ libraries, etc. Ask local vets to display one. 5. Post on Facebook and Nextdoor. Facebook has many missing cat pages as well as local community groups. 6. Put a paper collar on the cat. These can be found on Cats Protection's website. Unless you are in your garden 24/7, don't assume a cat you have seen around a lot never goes home! 7. It's absolutely ok to feed and offer shelter to a cat you are concerned is lost, BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN OWNER AT THE SAME TIME. Once an owner comes forward, you must stop doing this. 8. IF YOU'VE DONE ALL OF THESE THINGS and no owner has come forward, take the cat to a vet or contact a rescue about getting the cat scanned for a microchip. Or ask locally if anyone in your area has a scanner. Many of us on this page do. Please don't make point 7 your first course of action! This is how cats end up never being reunited and sometimes euthanised, when they might have only wandered a few feet from home.
