Circumstances:	Is anyone aware of a dog (probably lurcher or large greyhound, sandy, pale brownish) lost in the Shiphay area of Torquay? I was travelling up Hamelin Way (ring road) towards Shiphay roundabout. A large dog was suddenly running along the grass edge in the same direction, a few cars ahead. It then ran across the carriageway, over the central reservation and through (goodness knows how) the fast traffic on the dual carriageway to the other side. It then started running back down the hill away from the shiphay roundabout towards Kerswell gardens. The last thing I saw as I passed, was the dog running very fast down the hill in the road with cars in hot pursuit. This was all c 4.45, just as rush hour was building. I pulled over and called 999 telling them of the traffic hazard. The police said they would send a car immediately. I phoned half an hour later on 101 to find out what had happened with the dog and they said the car sent had been intercepted by another emergency and as no collision had been reported, everything must have been ok.... I returned and drove up and down the road looking on the verges for an injured dog but saw nothing. There are many fields around and it could have run into one of those. Clearly someone had lost a dog at that moment and may be looking now and this may be of interest. Hope it helps.
