I had a black cat that went missing from Wychwood Close in August, but he travelled a lot at night so he could have been visiting other houses while he was still living with us. He was a fairly large male cat (11 pounds when healthy). He was not neutered. The vet estimated he was about 4-5 years old. He had a few white hairs on his chest, belly and head. He was a stray that started visiting us two years ago, and he was very nervous at first but very friendly once he trusted us. His most distinctive characteristic was his meow - he was very chatty and quite loud. Is there any chance this could be him?

Thanks for your note. Oscar - the name we have given him - could very well be the cat who was visiting you. I am taking him to the vet in the morning for a health check and to have him castrated and microchipped, as male cats often get lost when they are seeking out females, travelling miles, and not being able to find their way home again. He is not in at the moment but you are very welcome to come over and have a look when he is back. He is very chatty and was very skinny when he got to us but has put some weight back on - I don't know how much he weighs until he has been to see the vet. He was very nervous and flinched if we tried to stoke him, but, as you can see from the photo, has now settled nicely, loves a fuss, eats well and seems happy. I also have him posted with Sunshine Cat Rescue to find him a home if we can't find his owner. I am very happy to foster him until we find him a new or existing home. My 2 female cats are a bit nervous around him, otherwise he could stay here. Wychwood Close is certainly close enough for it to be him. Let me know if you want to pop round 01993 706018.

I'm away from my phone at the moment but I'll call as soon as I can. I just wanted to check something though. You said this cat started visiting you in June and he was skinny at that time? Our cat was a healthy weight, if not a bit chunky, until he went missing from us at the end of August.

Hi. No problem, I'll wait to hear. Yes, Oscar was very skinny when he first arrived, so he may not be your cat, but it's worth checking. He is now a chunky, healthy weight, but was absolutely starving at first and could easily get through 6 pouches of food a day. He particularly likes Whiskas food, and Whiskas cat milk. Hope to hear soon, although he still hasn't come in... Gaynor

Has this cat got a raised lump on his side and under his belly. He looks like my cat that went missing on 23 Nov last year I have got him on this site mocha.Helen

Hi. Sorry, but the boy hasn't got any lumps anywhere - I've checked thoroughly. He's a very healthy, young cat, now castrated and chipped. He has been with us since the spring but it took several. Oaths to build up enough trust for him to come in. He's now very affectionate, chatty, and loves a fuss.

I was contacted by someone I believe was the owner, but she never bothered to come and see him, so I eventually found him a new home, where he is extremely happy.
